If consumers have to use either a debit card or a credit card to pay for goods or services and the payment method incurs a compulsory charge, the minimum compulsory charge should be included in the quoted price (British European, 4 February 2004). The ASA told the advertiser to include the debit card fee in the quoted prices and to state in an asterisked footnote that an extra fee would be charged if customers paid by credit card.
