Under this discipline, an art, music or drama therapist encourages people to express their feelings and emotions through art, such as painting and drawing, music or drama, for rehabilitation and it is regulated by the Health Professionals Council (www.hpc-uk.org). CAP has not had to assess the efficacy of art therapy and, in the absence of evidence, practitioners are advised not to make claims for it (Rule 12.1). Claims about improving well-being or relieving stress are likely to be acceptable.
