CAP

Welcome to the March edition of Insight

Spring is in the air and so are a couple of issues that may well have a significant bearing on your marketing communications:

First up; for anyone who’s ever promoted a ‘free’ item, the Committee of Advertising Practice has clarified, that in order for it to be genuinely free, you can’t charge for the packaging.

Then for all food manufacturers wishing to make nutrition claims for their products, the ASA will be taking into account the relevant and complex European regulations that directly apply.

As ever, the team are on hand to help you steer a path through these and many other difficult issues.

We hope Insight will help you get the best from the CopyAdvice service.  If there’s anything else you need, we would be pleased to hear from you.

Advice:am - Cosmetics advertising claims, 22 April 2009

In recent years, cosmetic ads have received significant ASA scrutiny leading to negative publicity for advertisers and indeed the sector. Much work has been done by the CTPA, in cooperation with ASA and Clearcast, to provide guidance for its members. However, with complaint levels remaining high, it is important to safeguard the credibility of cosmetic ads by keeping awareness of the rules up-to-date.

Book now for a chance to take part in this specialist seminar on how cosmetic ad campaigns can remain impactful without contravening the rules.  Speakers are confirmed from the ASA, CAP and CTPA, with Clearcast taking part in the Q&A panel.
